***NOTTING HILL SHOP NOW CLOSED***
It was with a very heavy heart that we shut our doors in Notting Hill on 28th January, marking the end of 30 years of an independent fishmonger at No. 67 Notting Hill Gate. The reason for this is because Notting Hill has become a very desirable area for retailers, and as a result, our property costs escalated by over 35% in 2010, which meant we could no longer operate at a profit. We would like to thank our customers for their loyalty and support over the years, and hope to see them in our other branch in Selfridges Foodhall in the near future.

YORKSHIRE & LINCOLNSHIRE FARMED TILAPIA
James Knight of Mayfair are delighted to be stocking Tilapia farmed in Yorkshire & Lincolnshire. They are farmed in a closed on shore recirculation system which avoids all of the negative environmental impacts associated with open water production. Issues such as discharges, escapes, transfer of disease and parasites, habitat damage, water pollution or degradation are prevented in closed system production systems. Tilapia are omnivores, and as such have a low requirement for fishmeal and fish-oil in their diets, making them a net producer of protein and therefore a valuable aquaculture species. MCS recommend the species as a fish to eat due to the fact that it ticks so many boxes from a sustainability point of view. CNN recently visited our fish counter in Selfridges as a part of their Earth Frontiers program about feeding the world sustainably. Please click on the CNN logo below to view the program.

NORWEGIAN MINISTRY OF FISHERIES VISIT
On the 8th & 9th of October 2009, the wholesale division was visited by the Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries. We were delighted that all representatives enjoyed the tour of our facilities as much as they did, and were most grateful to receive the note below following their visit:
Dear Mr. Paschal Tiernan,
I would like to thank you for sharing your insights into the English seafood business with us during the visit of my department in the Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries to London last week. I would also like to thank you for taking the time and effort to receive us at the premises of James Knight of Mayfair. Your talk and our two morning visits to James Knight of Mayfair were very educative and valuable parts of our program in London. It was a pleasure to see how much effort and resources you put into presenting fish of high quality in a delicate manner.
I wish you good luck with your business and promotion of high quality seafood.
Best regards,
Magnor Nerheim
