NOTTING HILL GATE SHOP NOW CLOSED

It was with a very heavy heart that we shut our doors in Notting Hill on 28th January, marking the end of 30 years of an independent fishmonger at No. 67 Notting Hill Gate. The reason for this is because Notting Hill has become a very desirable area for retailers, and as a result, our property costs escalated by over 35% in 2010, which meant we could no longer operate at a profit. We would like to thank our customers for their loyalty and support over the years, and hope to see them in our other branch in Selfridges Foodhall in the near future.

James Knight of Mayfair has a retail outlet in central London in Selfridges Food Hall.

They stock a wide range of fresh fish and shellfish - 80% of which is sourced from the UK and Ireland - which is refreshed daily.  As a result, the quality of our fish is far superior to those stocked in supermarkets; for instance, our salmon, tuna, scallops and yellowtail hamachi are all sashimi-grade.

We also take the provenance of our stock very seriously, and only source from fishing grounds and aquaculture farms which satisfy our very strict sustainability criteria. We are also the only fishmonger in London to be accredited by the Organic Food Federation (OFF).

Our fishmonger team are skilled craftsmen, some of whom also have professional chef experience. We can provide you with recipe and preparation ideas and encourage you to experiment with seafood you’ve never tried before – to your specification, of course!

For those in a hurry, we also stock a range of pre-packed seafood which requires very little preparation. These include fish cakes, seabass fillets and trout fillets, for which you can find recipes here.
